Visions Academy of Voice

MISSION STATEMENT

One of the most commonly asked questions among our teachers is “Can you teach anyone to sing?”. Our response is simple: We believe that if you have faith in a student and teach them to believe in themselves that every child can and will progress. Our vocal program is tailored to meet you right where you are and enable you with the tools needed to push you to your next level. Whether you are walking into your first lesson or have mastered the art and simply need to maintain your craft: we are here to encourage you, foster you, and help advance you.

VOCAL PROGRAM

Our vocal program is designed for the recreational singer, the singer who is serious about advancing to our competitive level, as well as the singer who wants to pursue music as a lifetime career. Our program offers a strong foundation in all styles of singing such as Classical, Musical Theatre, Commercial Music, and our newest addition, Artist Development.

Visions Makeup Policy:  Students agree to make every effort to attend all lessons. Students will receive ONE makeup lesson per semester. Each vocal instructor will provide a signup link online (via signupgenius.com) per semester for those students needing a makeup lesson.  If a student is unable to attend his or her makeup on this day, they forfeit the right to a makeup lesson. The instructor is only obligated to makeup one lesson per semester on his or her makeup day.

Inclement Weather Policy (Dance and Vocal Classes): Visions is not responsible for inclement weather. Therefore, refunds are not issued for class cancellations.

Inclement Weather Policy (Private Lessons): Refunds are not issued for private lesson cancellations due to inclement weather. Should a private lesson be cancelled due to inclement weather more than once, only then will students be allowed to make up the time lost.

Parental Presence in Lessons: Just a reminder, parents are not permitted to sit in on a student’s vocal lesson without express permission of the individual instructor. Our priority is to make sure that students have a comfortable learning environment to grow and thrive in. We find that adding a captive audience to a regular lesson can be distracting for them or cause them to be more nervous.

Semester Lesson Count:  Attached is a full breakdown of the number of lessons each student will receive throughout the year. Please note that all students will average 4 lessons per month

There are 3 Recommended Performances & 2 Optional Competitions throughout the studio year. Due to the many additional hours involved for each teacher, each performance/competition will count as a lesson for participating students..

Drop/Add/Withdrawal from a class:  There is a ONE MONTH NOTICE (30 days) required to withdraw from any class or weekly lesson. Once 1 of the following options have been submitted, tuition charges to your account will cease within 30 days of submission.  You may only withdraw by the following options:

  • Email to Katie Kallenberger, our Office Manager ([email protected]) that you are dropping a class.
  • Download the  “Drop/Withdrawal” form which is located under Registration Tab “Financial Policies” on our website.  You may email, mail, or turn this into Katie at the front desk.

June Showcase: This year our June Showcase week will begin on Monday, June 1st for rehearsals & will go through Saturday, June 6th which will be our final show for the week.  This is an exciting week for our students and an amazing opportunity for each of them to showcase their talents in a professional setting.  Participants should not plan a vacation from June 1-6th. Your child will miss critical rehearsals. Attendance is expected at all May lessons & is mandatory show week to participate in the Showcase.  There is a $75 Show Fee to participate which will be due with your January Tuition & covers the rental of St. Mary’s, sound & lighting technicians, workers for an entire week, and 2 complimentary show tickets.   Show fees nor costume fees are refundable so please make every effort to plan your summer around this 1 week.

Teacher/Student:   Visions’ Vocal Teachers are Independent Contractors under an Independent Contractor agreement. Visions’  strives to hire the very best Memphis has to offer to assure our students are receiving everything they need in order to succeed  in their goals & talents. The dynamic between a student & teacher is a crucial element to a student’s success & longevity in singing & our initial attempt in placing a student with a teacher always has this goal in mind. Although we strive to keep our teachers many years, there are special circumstances in which a teacher needs to make a change in his/her life.  In these rare situations, please note that e.Studio teachers are under contract not to teach any student affiliated with Visions for a 1 year period of time following their leave from Visions’. This is a mutual agreement with each teacher prior to them being hired & is the only way to protect our business. We appreciate your understanding & support if this situation was ever to arise.

Vocal Lesson Count Per Semester

RECOMMENDED PERFORMANCES: There are 3 RECOMMENDED Performances throughout the studio year. Recommended performances are those performance we believe are in each student’s best interest for their personal development as well as for College Resumes in the future. These performances will be counted as 1 of your semester lessons. If a student fails to participate, they will not receive a makeup lesson for this lesson.
OPTIONAL PERFORMANCES: There are 2 OPTIONAL Competitions each Fall. Your lesson for these weeks will be the time spent warming up, preparing, and rehearsing each participant at competition. Each level of competition in which a student advances, will require your teacher to be in attendance for an additional 8-10 hours.  If your child is 1 of those lucky students to advance & you wish for your teacher to attend, prep, and rehearse with you on competition day, this additional time will take the place of the following week’s lesson.IMPORTANT NOTES: Students will average 4 lessons/month per semester. Due to the numerous MONDAY Holidays, e.Studio will be open for “PRIVATE” vocal lessons ONLY for President’s Day.  Below is how each lesson will be accounted for per semester. We want you to be assured that even with the holidays & studio closings, your child will receive an average of 3-4 lessons per month. Please review the studio calendar above for studio closings.

Fees and Payments

Payment

At Visions we have the following options to pay your monthly outstanding balance:

  1. Online payment via the JackRabbit parent portal prior to the 1st of the month.
  2. Check or cash payment prior to the 1st  of the month.
  3. Automatic draft to be securely deducted monthly from your credit card or from your checking or savings account by Echeck on the 1st of each month.

Here’s how recurring payments work:

Authorize your monthly Visions tuition payment to be charged to your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover Card or draft by Echeck from your checking or savings account.  You will be charged each billing period on the 1st of each month for the total amount due for that period. Overdue fees will accrue a late fee of 10% per month  that it is past due and if fees remain unpaid after 2 months of classes students will not be permitted to participate in their lessons. You agree that no prior notification will be provided unless the payment amount or payment date changes, in which case you will be notified at least 10 days prior to the payment being collected.

There will be a $10 returned check fee/credit card denial fee.

Accounts that are more than 60 days overdue will result in the student’s immediate dismissal from the studio unless acceptable arrangements are made in advance with the studio owner or Billing Department.

You can access the Visions Portal 24/7 via our website homepage www.VisionsAcademyofPerformingArts.com to see all transactions including invoices & payments received by clicking on the ” LOGIN”  button on the home page. For any questions regarding your bill, please contact us at the studio (901) 729-6801.

Attendance

Withdrawal From Class

When you register a student for a class or lesson at Visions you are reserving a spot for that student for the entire Calendar Year through the final performance of our Visions Showcase.

ONE MONTH NOTICE (30 days) is required to withdraw from any class or weekly lesson. In order to withdraw you must submit a “Drop/Withdrawal” form.  This can be found on our website under the “registration” tab or from the front office. Once the form has been completed and submitted to the billing department, tuition charges to your account will cease within 30 days of submission.

No refunds will be given for any unused lessons after a notice of withdrawal has been submitted.  It is up to each individual student to attend any remaining lessons within their 30 day withdrawal period.

Your child’s attendance in class is very important to their peers and our teaching staff. As a member of the team, it is a commitment for you to ensure your child attends their classes on time each week and attends all lessons planned for them. Not only do absences impact the concert routines we create, it also impacts the social and confidence-building principals we work hard to foster in each age group. If you know ahead of time that your child will be absent due to holidays/vacations, commitments or school trips, please let us know ahead of time so the class impact is minimal. If your child is too unwell to attend class, we ask that you inform our admin team as soon as you can so they can let the teachers know and preparations can be made to catch up on any missed work.

Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate make-up sessions for students who miss classes.  Social Media

Vision’s Social Media Policy refers to all social networking sites, video/photo sharing sites, blogs, micro-blogs, wikis, podcasts, forums, instant messaging and geo-spatial tagging (for example, Facebook check-ins). Please see below for our regulations regarding Social Media and feel free to contact our office staff if you have any questions.

– Please remember that your anonymity on Social Media is never guaranteed and to exercise particular caution when posts, images or videos identify children in your care.
